St Canice’s Church, Kilkenny.
Brian Dunlop Architects were appointed in early 2015 to undertake the design and renovation works to the interior of the St. Canice’s Church, Kilkenny. The church is a Gothic-style Catholic church, built 1824-7, with eight-bay double-height aisles to north and to south, and single-bay double-height chancel to west continuing into single-bay single-storey sacristy. The primary intervention as the sanctuary backdrop was designed as a free standing modern intervention into the church space with a modern interpretation of the cruciform shape and to re-housing the repositioned tabernacle. In consultation with Dunleavy Besposke, new alter furniture was also designed as modern insertions.
